Inter Personal Communication in Music

Music is usually a collective effort. You get together with a group of friends and swing some ideas and then some tunes into air and it starts to develop a rhythm and if things go well it gets liked by many people.

When you work with people from different walks of life, for example a part time bar tender who is a also a good drummer gets together with a exotic dancer who happens to be a  good bass guitarist and a doctor who loves to sing, you have one thing in common, your love for music, but you also have many things which are not so common at all. This where effective communication skills comes  to your rescue.

You can not be a loner and succeed in this industry. If you really want to succeed you will have to become friends with many  people, some of whom you may not even like. But hey, you are here to  because you love music, not because you hate someone, so do what it takes to get where you want to go.

Learning to get along with other people is really a gift. I am not talking about mixing up with gangbangers and gangsta bullies, unless you are one of them. No Sweat, I personally know some of the Record company’s execs who are  more toxic and harmful than my gansta friends.

Bottom line, Get good in your inter personal communication skills.  Learn to get along other people and you can reach your place of stars easily

Swaying to Music

Music is more than a language, it is the language of languages“      David Tame in The Secret Power of Music.

Why would anyone consider Music to be the language of languages? and more importantly can you see and imagine this to be the case?

Before you answer this question take a moment and list atleast 3 songs that you love to dance for (or listen to) -with lyrics in a lanuage you do not understand.

 Mine are

1. Didi By khalid

2. Kaoma - Lambarda

3. Ojos Asi - Shakira

You see, even though the rational part of our mind cannot understand the lyrics, our reptilian brain sways to the music.

Have you ever wondered why?

Although songs may comprise of lyrics which tends to give a surface meaning or structure,  interlaced within  is the  background instruments -or the melody of the actual song- which gives the rhythm.  Our body and mind respond to this rhythm and Rhythm in itself  has its own structure. This structure is so powerful that it can make ones mind flow in its direction with ease. It has a magnetic effect which supercedes the interference of our logical mind and thus you will find even the most ratinal minds sway with ease to music, that is unless they are constipated with a parasysis called analysis

So what is the take away from this short piece?

If you have areas in life where you are currently feeling out of options or rigid, try thinking of them when you are immersed in good music. Lets say about half hour into music, you begin to lightly look at the solutions to the problems you are facing and suddenly solutiosn will come to you. It is imporant to keep yourself immersed in music and look at the porblem over your shoulder, as if it is an after thought.

That is the best and most resourceful state you can be in to solve the problem.

Go ahead and solve all your problems one by one, by swaying to music…….
