Mind loves Music
About 500 hundred years ago there was this group in Central Europe which believed that music has an effect on our brain functions. People around them thought that it is a ridiculous idea to think that there is a connection between music and mind functions.
Many centuries later, psychologists have proven that there is a positive co-relation between music and cognitive functions.
The idea of music having an effect is not just a few centuries old. In India the idea of making a pregnant woman listen only to soft melodious tones has been followed from many centuries now. Even today, pregnant woman are not allowed to watch horror movies or extremely loud music as it is believed that it would hurt the baby inside.
The Field of Neuro Psychology and its new age versions have done numerous experiments and found that Baroque Music is very helpful in aiding concentration and increasing memory power.
Music Therapy is on the rise helping patients to recover faster and aiding them in mental as well as physical healing.
The energy associated with Music can be thus analyzed. Eastern and Western approach to music is as different as it is for any other field. If you were to measure a person’s Heart rate, Blood sugar levels and other critical parameters before and after exposure to different types of music, you can establish in a very small control group the relation between music and Mind functions. To The surprise of many, an individual’s choice of music has very little to do with how it actually affects a person.
For Example: If you make a person listen to Death Metal for half hour and observe his vital stats all through the session and compare the same with his exposure to a melodious classical piece, you will notice a very big difference. He may not like the music, but his vital stats will disagree.
Self Help Industry is making a lot of research into this arena. There are many programs in the market now which make use of advanced music compositions, brain wave scalars and effects to help people improve their performance in studies, sports and all the other areas including picking up women!!
A Spoken word artist called Hypnotica and a Hypno therapist by Name Steve Piccus have created a program to Build
Confidence. Essentially the program is a Hypnotic session which is filled with many positive suggestions and music created by Denver Clay, an accepted maestro of Self Help Industry. Hypnotica uses many types of sound effects, and brain wave frequencies to help his clients achieve their goals
So While you enjoy music just for the fun of it, be aware of the other fantastic things it can do for you.
